We believe in Santa School because we’re passionate about teaching Santas how to do things differently–and way better–than they’re usually done. Too often you’ll find Santas who sit on their chair like a bump on a log, half asleep. That’s no fun and most certainly not magical! We knew there had to be a better way.
We carefully built the curriculum for the Best Santas Santa School. We teach our Santas that being Santa is so much more than putting on a red suit and making sure your beard is white. It’s about bringing a truly magical experience to children and adults alike! Our Santa team does this by interacting with and engaging with the children.
We provide tools and training for the Santas to use to accomplish this goal. For example, every one of our Santas (who are all real-bearded and naturally “plump”) have props to engage the children in stories.
They each have a fun North Pole photo album featuring authentic pictures from Santa’s workshop, home, and plenty of reindeer and elf pictures. Santa also has photos from his annual Hawaiian vacation–boogie boarding, no less! Santa’s most favorite picture, however, is of Ruby, Rudolph’s baby reindeer! She even has a red nose and is being trained up by Rudolph himself.
Our Santas also bring along a broken reindeer antler piece (that goofball Donder had a bit of an accident on a rooftop one snowy Christmas Eve). Santa uses the antler piece to teach the other reindeer that they should be more careful! All of our Santas also have a carved wooden cane, the Night Before Christmas book, and a magical skeleton key that allows access on Christmas Eve to homes that don’t have a chimney.
Another important facet to being Santa is stage presence and performance. Santa doesn’t just delicately walk into a room! He engages the crowd immediately with his bigger-than-life presence and BOOMING HO-HO-HO! Santa also must learn how to walk, gesture, control his body language, project his voice, and read the crowd.
All of the Santas that attend our Santa School also work for us. We train them and provide them with a high quality Santa suit and boots, as well as all the props they’ll need. They’re responsible for making sure their beard is a white as snow!
We begin our recruitment process by carefully searching for high caliber Santas. Next, we setup a formal interview with them. What we’re largely screening for in the interview process is their motivation to be Santa. Sure, Santa earns good money, but their focus must be on serving children and sharing the magic of Christmas.
If they pass the interview portion, we run a full background check on them, including verification that they are not a sex offender. Our head Santa, Santa Jim, spent five years as a sexual crimes against children detective, so we’re extremely serious about making sure all of our Santas are safe to be around children.
We’re also very careful to screen our North Pole Team for punctuality and reliability. Being punctual and reliable is critical and this is taught and monitored throughout the hiring process and Santa School.
Best Santas receives many Santa applicants and only a small portion make the cut.
After the Santas graduate from Santa School, they’re awarded their Bachelors of Santa diploma and are added to our team officially!
